This unit standard makes provision for the automotive retail industry with special reference to handing over vehicles in the following categories; Light commercial vehicles; passenger vehicles; recreational vehicles; Motor cycles; Tri-cycles; Quad cycles; Boats; Off Road (ATR) vehicles and earth moving equipment.
Upon achieving this unit standard, the learner will be able to prepare the vehicle for handover, ensuring it is in optimal condition and ready for the client. They will be proficient in handing over the vehicle in accordance with standard procedures, providing a smooth and professional experience for the customer. Additionally, the learner will be capable of processing the customer’s payment in accordance with company procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial protocols.
Course Content
- The quality standards of a specific servicing outlet are explained with reference to the learner being able to interpret them
- The quality control measures are described in terms of recognising sub-standard quality
- Incidents of sub-standard quality are recorded to identify weaknesses and trends in the system
- Statistical interpretations of sub-standard quality incidents are communicated according to company
- The vehicle is inspected to ensure that it is ready for delivery
- The handover documentation is prepared according to company policies and procedures
- The service and or repairs are explained to the customer in terms of the job sheet
- Handover/delivery documentation is completed according to company policy
- The customer is advised on key points to bear in mind for the safe and durable operation of the vehicle
- The method of payment is established and evaluated against company payment methods
- The price is communicated to the customer and verified in accordance with company policy
- The payment documents are prepared for the customer according to standard procedures
- The payment is processed according to company procedures for the payment method
