Description
This unit standard is intended for people who are, or seek to be, specialists in human resources management. Persons credited with this unit standard are able to analyse the current situation, determine and describe agreed present and desired organisational objectives, define the gap, make recommendations for bridging the gap and produce a written report of the results.
Course Content
Unit 1: Analyse the current situation
- The purpose of the analysis has been established and confirmed with stakeholders
- The method and scope of the analysis are planned thoroughly to ensure effective and efficient analysis
- The sourced information is current, relevant, and accurate. The information covers the entire planned scope of analysis
- The method of analysis used is sufficient and relevant to accurately describe the present situation and meet the purpose of the analysis
- Actions, processes, and procedures are recorded to facilitate further interpretation and validation of the analysis
- Different methods of analysis and data gathering are described in terms of their strengths, weaknesses, features, and applications
Unit 2: Determine and describe the agreed short and long-term organisational objectives
- The objectives are verified with stakeholders as valid, current, and complete. Key decision-makers are strategists and are included in the verification process
- The objectives are recorded clearly to facilitate further interpretation
- The role and importance of objectives are described within the context of the analysis, taking cognisance of their function and value to the organisation
Unit 3: Define the gap and make recommendations for bridging the gap
- The gap is determined using an acceptable analysis technique appropriate to the context
- The gap definition consistently analyses the current situation and objectives. All objectives found to be unaddressed are highlighted and described in terms of a need
- The definition of the gap addresses the scope and purpose of the analysis and facilitates further planning and decision-making
- Recommendations of methods and scenarios for closing the gap are considered reasonable, effective, and comprehensive
Unit 4: Produce a written report of the results
- The report meets the organisational format specifications. Graphics and tables are used where appropriate to improve the quality and ease of communication
- The language medium adheres to organisational language policy. The grammar and syntax conform to international norms
- The content accurately reflects the analysis, the objectives, and the recommendations
- Support documentation is used when necessary and enhances the potential for understanding the report
- Sources are acknowledged according to the organisational format policy
- The report is completed within the agreed time frames
