Examining information parameters that influence supply chain effectiveness.

Examining information parameters that influence supply chain effectiveness, facilitating processes for informed decision-making in supply chain information systems, and analysing effectiveness to provide recommendations for improvement are crucial steps in optimising the performance of supply chain information systems.

Course Content

  • The need for integrated supply chain information is determined and evaluated to indicate its positive and negative effects on integrated supply chain information systems
  • Fundamental information parameters are determined to measure their impact on the effectiveness of the supply chain
  • The supply chain processes are articulated indicating the information requirements that are needed for success in each of the process elements
  • An impact analysis of customised demand information sharing on supply chain performance is conducted
  • Stakeholders that should be part of a decision making process regarding the selection of supply chain information systems are identified
  • The capabilities and capacities of available information systems are identified and evaluated to determine best approaches and associated risks
  • A decision is made on the best solutions taking into account the risks identified to inform planning and managing processes
  • An integrated proposal is presented for approval in accordance with organisational procedure

  • Criteria for effective information systems are generated in accordance with needs and stakeholder requirements
  • The effectiveness of the supply chain information systems is measured in accordance with the agreed criteria
  • Processes to improve the integration of information systems are determined and implemented in accordance with the agreed criteria
  • Improvements are indicated on the supply chain flow chart to reflect where opportunities are for the integration of information
  • An information system map is produced to reflect the areas where required information is not available or in the incorrect format
  • Improvements to the system or to the use of the system are recommended in accordance with the findings of the analysis
